We are happy to announce that our brochures and posters have arrived in select MWR facilities in Afghanistan.  We have been sent photos of the displayed materials and we hope that this will further spread the message and idea of our project to those who can help document these important images.

This project, our project, has grown from a couple of guys with an idea to a cultural push with momentum.  Those of us on the admin side are always looking and thinking of new ways to keep that momentum alive all the way to the finish line, a published book for the world to glimpse through the warfighter's eyes. 

Our goal for this website has always been to generate support and media exposure to ensure the completion of the Project.  Our new campaign, Soldiers-on-Assignment, is a great example of the new direction we are taking to put this project and its success further into the hands of our supporters.  That direction continues with our new idea, video submissions for use in internet media exposure such as YouTube and Facebook as well as broadcast media.  We are calling for any and all submissions of video content from Iraq, Afghanistan and Kuwait.  Below is the outline of what we envision.

As this idea is still in the early stages we are looking for any and everything video.  We need video of anything in Iraq, Afghanistan and Kuwait, regardless of content at this point.  We will use a collection of videos and photos to create the final product.  Anyone can participate in this, whether you are a veteran, service member deployed or not deployed, dig up your deployment files and send us what you think would be perfect for the final. 

We are looking for ideas too.  As we have said from the beginning, these are your photos, your images, your art and ultimately your project.  We want to hear your voice.  We welcome any and all questions, comments, suggestions and concerns. 

If you would like to create your own submission specifically for the campaign we would love to see what you can come up with.

This past weekend we began a new campaign called, "Soldier-on-Assignment".  During this campaign, we will be sponsoring service members with tailored-specific care packages, DVDs, promotional materials such as shirts, stickers, posters, and cups as well as other items of comfort.  In return for this sponsorship, these service members will be providing us with the content we need from different areas of operation.  To find out more about this campaign please visit our page, "Soldier-on-Assignment" or contact Doc or SSG D.

If you are interested in becoming a S-o-A you must be deployed, you must submit 3 examples of photos you have taken while you have been out there and we will review the submission and make our determination.  Rest assured, that no personal information, unit IDs, locations, and names will be revealed through this campaign.  Our primary concern is the welfare of the service member and OPSEC is critical part of our project.

If you are interested in supporting this campaign, you have a few options in terms of how you can help.  You can donate directly through our front page through paypal.  You can purchase items on our merchandise page.  You can also donate these specific items, which we will list on the S-o-A page in the coming weeks.  For those of you who might be concerned with donating or purchasing items on our page, we want to make something very clear.  None of the funds donated or earned through the sale of merchandise does into any of our pockets.  NONE OF US ARE PAID ONE CENT in administering this website, campaign and this project.  In fact, whatever the Soldier-on-Assignment campaign is lacking in terms of funds, items and material, we are covering with our own money.  We have been doing this for the advertising, web development and marketing since the start of this project and it is becoming prohibitively expensive for a couple of family men to afford this, but we refuse to give up!  However, we hope that our supporters can get behind this and help us support it.

We have seen an overwhelming outpouring of support from individuals as well as organizations ending this first week of November.  Our fan base on Facebook is just shy of 600 and we are consistently receiving more and more traffic to the website.  More importantly we have been steadily receiving a dozen or more submissions to our website daily.  This is very reassuring and we are very grateful to our supporters and fans.

I would like to thank Maxim Magazine for creating a page in their "Stuff" Section detailing the project ideas and goals.  We would also like to thank Military Times and specifically the Army Times for not only publishing a 2nd page story about the project but listing a "Call to Action" on their blog.  In addition, we would also like to thank IAVA.org's Community of Veterans for helping spread the word by detailing on their blog and on their front page in their member's area details about our project and how to contribute. 

As we progress into the holiday months, we would like to remind everyone that we have merchandise for sale on our website and on Cafepress.com.  These items will be on sale now and into December and the funds will go to support our efforts to release our project to the public, marketing, advertising, and more as we draw closer and closer to a publish date sometime next year.  We have everything from stickers to hoodies, coffee cups to T-shirts.  This is a great way to contribute and participate in the project and we need it now more than ever.  So, as the holidays approach and you need a gift to give your Dad, Mom, Aunt, or Uncle or if you want your kids to hit the school looking COOL, get one of our shirts, hoodies, or T's and show you love them and that you love Service Members and Veterans!!!

We have been working as hard as ever and have some new developments to release this month so stay tuned and keep checking in for updates.  As always, we cannot do this without your help and it is more than imperitive that you help us spread the word either through emails, social networking, phone calls, letters, etc anyway you would like, PLEASE help spread the word and lets get this project finished by SUMMER!!!!
