First, we are happy to announce an upcoming article in the WV Charleston Gazette (www.wvgazette.com) this Sunday in the Life section. This has been in the works for a couple of weeks now and we have been informed by the author of the piece that it will run in the Sunday edition. Feel free to visit the website provided to read the article, we hope to have it available on the website in the days after the printing. We are hopeful that AP (Associated Press) or other larger media outlets will pick up the story and run with it, like SeaBiscuit on stacker 3's (that one's for you Booth, I miss you brother). In addition, since this is the capital city newspaper, we hope to garner some interest with the powers that be. We remain confident that this is a great step in the right direction. For those of you who would like to really help this project along, feel free to contact Travis (twcampbell21@hotmail.com) and bug the hell out of him for ways to help him market and expose this project to those who could give us the boost we need to ensure the success of, not only the book, but the foundation as well. We are paying him in animal crackers, so if anyone would like to contribute to his salary, head down to your local grocery store and pick him up a bag.
Moving right along. This Saturday, we are slated to be a guest of D. Bjorn Christian, Garland Green and James Johnson on their podcast, http://standatease.org. We are really looking forward to this podcast and have finally found some time available to participate. We encourage all of our 2,138 fans and countless others that visit this website, to visit their website and listen to prior podcasts. They have had some amazing guests, which will most certainly be hard to follow but we will do our very best. One example was last weeks podcast that featured a WWII Combat veteran of the Battle of The Bulge. I would have given my youngest child to pick his brain for a few hours. All of us here have the utmost respect and adoration of those brave and humble men and women of the Greatest Generation and I know many of our supporters feel the same. So, take a minute and check out their website and listen to their archive. Beware! There is language, so please, don't let your 6 year-old listen in and then send me emails about how you disapprove of the language, you will NOT like my response. I will never apologize for the emotions of the heart and war isn't Disneyland (regardless of their rendition of Pearl Harbor....shameful) so don't listen in and expect to hear snow white and the seven dwarfs singing show tunes and drinking tea. These men are hardened combat veterans with real experiences and the emotional baggage that comes with it. And thank God for them!
Well, that does it for the update today. I will be updating again tomorrow with additional information about what on earth we think we are doing and how the hell we plan to get there. As always, if you have ideas, questions comments, concerns or just want to tell us we are doing a great job, wink wink, then by all means send me an email at docparsons78@yahoo.com or call me, 304.841.8203 I will do my best to accommodate your requests. Also, we have been getting a few emails regarding "guest postings" for our blog. Our answer is a resounding YES! Remember, from my previous posting, this website and project, other than encompassing the book, The Graffiti of War, is here to help veterans, service members (from all branches, creeds, races, religions, and yes even democrats because I am secretly a liberal at heart, hard to believe eh?), and supporters of the above. We want to help you succeed in your project, your idea, your passion, no strings attached. Let me state that one more time, No Strings Attached. Our focus, in addition to the book and foundation, is to ensure the success of US, by any means necessary. So, all you have to do is ask and we will do our best.
One last thing, tomorrow, I will be posting about Jess E. Weiss, a WWII Combat Veteran and author of Warrior to Spiritual Warrior: The Soldier's Journey. So, make sure you pass this along to your friends that aren't yet fans of the website (although why aren't they fans yet? Didn't your Mama teach you to share?). I promise you, this is a story you need to hear. We will be offering his book on our website. I am trying to get him to charge, he wants to give it away for free to veterans and service members, but, and I think you will agree, he needs to be compensated for his efforts. Regardless, we are working on getting it set up to offer through our website. We are also working on a contact for publication for him, so if anyone has any ideas, email me, docparsons78@yahoo.com (three times I listed it, maybe someone will send me an email). Thank you to all of our loyal and caring supporters, we love you and count on your support daily. Don't forget about the Kickstarter.com campaign, we still have a few weeks and need your donations to ensure the success of the Southwest Asia (Kuwait, Iraq & Afghanistan) trip this summer. Until tomorrow!
Always Forward!
