First and most exciting is our new partnership with MWR and KBR. For the last six weeks I have been negotiating with MWR and its operational parent, KBR, to market our project to deployed Servicemembers in Iraq and Afghanistan. As of this morning, they have agreed to assist us by placing our brochures in their overseas facilities. We are absolutely ecstatic with this giant leap forward; the acceptance of MWR lends us a considerable amount of legitimacy. I am still working out the details regarding the number of facilities we can reach, however, I am confident that this will significantly improve our exposure to the brave men and women serving our country overseas.
This agreement comes on the heels of the increased amount of attention we have been receiving from the news media. Just a few days ago, the Army Times expressed a real interest in the project and have agreed to speak with us early next week. The journalist who contacted us "loves" our website and the project goals. We are excited to see where this will take us.
In addition, Maxim Magazine confirmed their continued interest in detailing our project and "call to action" in their Circus Maximus section in their magazine. Keep your eyes open for it to be available in early 2011. Maxim was our very first supporter, and their belief in our project has been incredibly encouraging over the last several months. Although these new developments are exciting, we still feel that Maxim has the most potential to spread word of this project to the largest audience.
Finally, last week I was approached by a local CBS reporter about an filming a project summary to be shown during their nightly news broadcast. The reporter contacted me earlier today to confirm a time for the interview. We hope to complete this by next week and expect a broadcast a few days later. We will post the video online and link to it here and on our Facebook page.
While all this has been happening, we have been solidifying partnerships and support from different organizations. Many of them have agreed to include our brochures in the care packages they send overseas. Several of these organizations have been with us from almost the very beginning and we are very grateful for their faith and early support. We encourage all of our supporters to use the links in our Friends section to visit their sites. Their cause IS our cause.
We will continue to post updates here and on Facebook, check in often to see if we have any new photos or links to news articles. As always, we will continue to need your support to advance this project by word of mouth, by emailing your friends, and by emailing us your photos and the stories behind them. As our marketing increases, we will need more funding to send out brochures and buy advertisements or other promotional materials.
Thank you all for your faith, advice and encouragement. We would not be where we are now without all of your contributions; without your continued support this project will never be complete.
